Software Developer Resume 2026 (Fresher & Experienced)
A tech recruiter spends under 30 seconds on a resume. They look for your stack, what you built, and proof that it worked. Here is how I would write a developer resume, with examples you can copy.

Developer resume summary examples
Experienced developer
Backend developer with 4 years of experience building REST APIs in PHP and Laravel with MySQL. Built a multi-store e-commerce API used by 50+ stores and cut average response time from 1.8s to 400ms with caching and query tuning. Comfortable with Git, Docker and code reviews.
Fresher
B.Tech (Computer Engineering) graduate who builds full-stack web apps with JavaScript, React and Node.js. Built 3 deployed projects, including a task manager with login and a REST API. Looking for a junior web developer role.
Technical skills: group them
Don't write one long list. Group skills so the reader finds their stack in a second, and only list what you can answer questions about.
Languages: PHP, JavaScript, SQL, Python
Frameworks: Laravel, React, Node.js / Express
Databases: MySQL, Redis
Tools: Git, GitHub, Docker, Postman, Linux
Concepts: REST APIs, MVC, authentication, caching, unit testing
Project bullet points (very important for freshers)
For each project write: name, the tech used, a live or GitHub link, and 2–3 points on what you built and how well it works.
Expense Tracker – React, Node.js, MongoDB · github.com/yourname/expense-tracker

Work experience bullet points
• Built and maintained 40+ REST API endpoints in Laravel for orders, payments and inventory

• Integrated Razorpay and a courier API, handling 2,000+ orders a month
• Wrote feature tests that caught bugs before release and cut production issues by 30%
• Reviewed pull requests and mentored 2 junior developers
Common mistakes in developer resumes
- Listing 25 technologies. It looks like you know none of them well. Keep the ones you really use.
- Skill bars and star ratings ("JavaScript ★★★★☆"). Hiring software can't read them and they mean nothing to a reader.
- Projects without links. Add GitHub or a live demo – recruiters do click.
- Tutorial copies only. A to-do app from a course is fine, but add one project that solves a real problem.
- No numbers. Users, speed, requests, bugs fixed – numbers prove impact.
Tip: Use a simple one-column template for tech jobs – most companies use an ATS. Read how to make an ATS-friendly resume.
